Alex's marathon effort for brain cancer trust

The Plymouth Half Marathon takes place on Sunday 25 May

2nd May 2008

A West Alvington resident is facing the challenge of a lifetime when she embarks on her first half marathon.

Alex Doughty will be running the Plymouth Half Marathon on Sunday 25 May in aid of the Samantha Dickson Brain Tumour Trust (SDBTT).

Her uncle, Robin Ellis, died in August 2007 after four years of living with a brain tumour.

The SDBTT, which was set up by Neil and Angela Dickinson in 1996, supported Alex's family through Robin's illness.

The charity attempts to raise awareness, support and funds for brain tumour research to help fight this devastating disease.

Brain cancer is on the increase and that is why more research needs to be carried out and hopefully one day, a cure can be found.
